I have been fortunate to work at a variety of Beaumont USD schools – like Anna Hause, Brookside, Palm, Three Rings Ranch and Tournament Hills elementaries -- in my work as a substitute for the past 5 years. I enjoy the opportunity to work with children to help them reach their academic potential in the classroom, and I know the importance of what strong parent involvement can do to support those efforts.Having graduated from Beaumont High (class of 1984), as well as having been a resident in the district for the past 21 years while raising three children who attended schools here, I understand the culture and involvement needed for students to succeed. Like all parents, I know how important it is to have them in learning environments where they can be college and career-ready as they work toward graduating high school.These are exciting times for public education in California as the transition is being made to the Common Core State Standards, and schools and districts seek more community involvement through Local Control Accountability Plans. Working in Beaumont, I have first-hand experience on taking on these new challenges and enjoy being part of a team approach that looks to provide the finest education for the students in this district.When I graduated from Beaumont High, I went to the University of California, Riverside, where I earned by bachelor’s in 1988. After I began my career as a substitute, I went into the teaching credential program at the University of Redlands, where I completed my coursework in 1999.Having a college degree and working to continue my education, I understand the great responsibility it takes for careers in public education.
