Created programs and events for Loudoun County’s newest park. Initiated collaborations with Loudoun County governmental entities and community organizations. Organized and led new planetarium programs in the Digitalis Theta Planetarium model. Planned and managed the park’s first summer camp programs, with 100% of survey respondents indicating they would gladly tell others about the camp. Launched the park’s volunteer program, including events such as the MLK Day of Service, which attracted more than 150 volunteers in its first year. Organized the first annual July 1 5K and Picnic in the Park. Managed park staff during each event. These events were successful and had over 200 participants. Hired and managed 7 additional Program Instructors to expand park programming. Tracked the costs of all programs held and set prices for all programs in accordance with their value to the community and the park’s budget.

Led naturalist programs for the general public. These programs informed all ages about various natural and outdoor topics such as campfire building, bat ecology, and fungi, Created and led several preschool camps. Managed the volunteers for each of these camps. Assisted in leading survival camps for ages 6-10. Led programs for boy scouts, girl scouts, and birthday parties. Created several interactive educational displays. Assisted with animal care for box turtles, American toads, and a corn snake.

I fed and trained the raptors in Cunningham Falls State Park. I cleaned each of the mews and enclosures of the reptiles. I gained experience handling and caring for various snake and turtle species, a bald eagle, red-tailed Hawk, and more.

Informed visitors about all aspects of Cunningham Falls State Park and Gambrill State Park. I created the Park Quest for Gambrill State Park as well as other interpretive packets for both parks. I handled the cash register, checked in campers, and kept park staff updated during emergencies. I also managed the store’s inventory and improvements.

Assisted the preschool teachers with leading lessons for 15 students, ages 3-5. Students were taught a multi-sensory, hands-on nature based curriculum. I assisted with preparing the learning space, leading hikes, several lessons on ecology, and behavior management.

Each week I led a lesson on an ecological topic to 15 children, ages 4-6. This position ended when I was offered a job with the younger preschool class.

I was responsible for data cleanup in the EMu database. I ensured that the precise locality was accurately transcribed, countries and territories were updated, and endangered species were not published to the web. I am proficient at using and updating the EMu database. I performed a quality check on individual records including image quality and data accuracy for all fields related to the specimen. I have reviewed and corrected thousands of botanical records for plants located in South Africa, New Zealand, Finland, and more.

Provided information to alumni and gave them an opportunity to participate in annual giving.

Researched the habits of the CBG plant collection and input them into the CBG database.

Created and led camp programs about the Chesapeake Bay and Nature Photography. Supervised camp interns and volunteers.

Assisted environmental educators in leading outdoor and science programs with the goal of educating campers while providing a fun summer experience. I created and led lesson plans that taught students various ecological topics including white nose bat syndrome, and eutrophication.

Excavated the Lechaion Harbor in Greece, which entailed surveying, epigraphical research, excavating, analyzing, sorting, and characterizing artifacts.
