CurrentWaterloo Greenway Conservancy is a visionary urban park initiative spanning 1.5 miles along the revitalized Waller Creek in downtown Austin. Encompassing 35 acres of interconnected green space, this transformative project is set to become a hub of natural and cultural attractions. Our park system is strategically developed in three phases, each marked by distinct geographic milestones:Phase 1 (Opened August 2021): Featuring Waterloo Park, the Moody Amphitheater, and Symphony Square, this initial segment sets the stage for a vibrant and dynamic urban oasis.Phase 2 - The Confluence (Expected Completion 2025-2026): An expansive trail system connecting Lady Bird Lake to 4th Street, The Confluence promises to be a seamless blend of nature and urban connectivity, enhancing the overall experience of our community.Phase 3 - Palm Park and The Refuge (Currently Active Outreach): Ongoing efforts focus on the development of Palm Park and The Refuge, creating spaces that resonate with the needs and aspirations of our diverse community. At Waterloo Greenway, we embrace a collaborative funding approach, drawing support from both public and private sources. With an estimated project cost of $265 million, the City of Austin has committed approximately $150 million through bond funding, the Waller Creek Tax Increase Reinvestment Zone, and various other channels. The remaining $100 million is sourced from individual, foundation, and corporate contributions, grants, and more.
