A hands-on family project converting an off-grid red-brick barn. The project was an education to the realities of renewable energy and project management. I investigated options of renewable energy generation and storage vs connecting to the grid, considering availibility of government feed-in tariffs. I immersed myself in the project as the builders' labourer and learnt the practical side of construction.
