I am the sole proprietor of an online vintage shoe and clothing shop, responsible for all sourcing, customer service, and financial matters, inclusive of bookkeeping and tax returns. Analysing profits through Excel, as well as observing trends, informs any business decisions.

As a corporate tax assistant, I worked as part of a team to deliver tax computations and advice to clients, including large multinationals and charities. I worked on multiple clients simultaneously, prioritising according to importance and urgency. I was responsible for: drafting and finalising the computations by applying the relevant laws and regulations to information provided by other departments and clients; drafting client emails for management; resolving any issues with HMRC and submitting the tax returns within a strict deadline. I was able to quickly learn the procedures for onboarding new clients, the tax compliance process, and various compliance applications. I also aided superiors in managing and prioritising client portfolios, helped to train new starters, and worked for multiple branches according to need within the company.

I provided particular support and monitoring for children with special educational needs, including organising and delivering intervention programmes as part of a team.

I was responsible for financial reporting, requesting POs, paying invoices, countersigning all society claims, and keeping accounts current and transparent. I also simplified data collection and reimbursement requests through the introduction of a Google form.

My primary responsibilities on the shop-floor were replenishing, arranging stock, and assisting customers’ needs at both the tills and the customer service desk. I was flexible to work in whichever section that required my help in a fast-paced retail environment. I thoroughly enjoyed working as part of a team and supporting colleagues in delivering the success of the department.

My responsibilities included replenishing and arranging the display of food, serving customers and creating a variety of drinks as a barista. Ensuring a clean environment and retaining detailed knowledge of food health and safety was also key. An important aspect of being a successful catering assistant was the ability to work in a team.I led the ‘cash-up’ of the tills and acted as a role model in the Buddy Scheme, helping to train new partners and ensuring their 90-day journey was smooth. As a manager replacement, I would act as ‘service lead’ and ensure operations ran smoothly for the day. I was relied upon for my technological knowledge and produced introductory presentations for new managers, as well as the daily department rota, created the document to plan the departments year for 2018 and was the operations manager for organising and approving all holidays for the 2019/20 retail year.

My primary responsibilities on the shop-floor were replenishing, arranging stock, and assisting customers’ needs at both the tills and the changing rooms. I was flexible to work in whatever section of our department that my manager believed to require my help in a fast-paced retail environment. I thoroughly enjoyed working as part of a team and supporting colleagues in delivering the success of the department. As I began to prove myself as a diligent worker, I was granted more responsibility, until at times I was solely responsible for my section.
