I served as the coordination and contact for field testing set up and recorded all the locations and positioning of our sties. I participated in the refraction, multi-channel analysis of surface waves (MASW), and passive arrays data collection and analysis.

I lead and lecture on various geotechnical laboratory experiments including specific gravity, gradation, hydrometer, Atterberg Limits, proctors, consolidation/swell tests, direct shear, and triaxial tests.

I worked various positions in those two years including Field Technician, Field Engineer, Lab Technician, Drafter, and a Staff engineer in the Forensic, Geotechnical, and Construction sides of the company. While in South Africa I worked under Dirk Van Rooyen, and engineering geologist. I assisted him in writing reports and creating technical figures. I also aided him in field investigations which included foundations. While there we performed several foundation investigations and worked on a power-line expansion project for ESKOM. We looked at possible routes for the new expansion and noted mines that might be affected by this expansion. I had several projects while apart of the Xcel team. I was working under two licensed Professional Engineers and with a URS employee. My main project focused on Oil Spill Prevention Control and Counter-measure plans for sub-stations. I collected existing data and information on sub-stations and their level of risk if a spill occurred. Myself and the URS employee surveyed existing sub-stations around Colorado that had a high risk for contamination and sub-stations without current data.… Show more I had several projects while apart of the Xcel team. After surveying we determined whether or not specific stations needed contingency plans in the overall oil spill plan using software called MOSES and by analyzing One-Line and AutoCAD drawings. My other project was focused in my specific line of Geotech Engineering. I was apart of a project at the Pawnee Power Plant that involved the creation of a porous dike for a lime slurry pond. I took soil samples at the site and analyzed results to determine a potential select granular fill for the construction of the dike. I was also involved in the construction meetings for this project.
