Leading the Global Social Entrepreneurship Network (hosted by UnLtd), a global network of 60 member organisations, supporting and funding social entrepreneurs across 70 countries and 6 continents. GSEN works towards a vision that social entrepreneurs can access the support they need to thrive, no matter where they are in the world. We do this by bringing organisations together to learn from and support each other, collaborate and co-create, to provide the best possible support to social entrepreneurs who are developing solutions to the most pressing challenges facing society. GSEN strives to create a more developed and connected ecosystem of support for purpose driven business.

Ethiopia

I lead Reach for Change Ethiopia, an NGO launched in Addis Ababa in 2015. We empower local social entrepreneurs who are transforming the lives of women and children in Ethiopia. We are also driving social entrepreneurship in Ethiopia, a previously unestablished sector.We support early stage Ethiopian social entrepreneurs with innovative ideas that have the potential to create huge social impact for women and children. We work with them to turn their ideas into financially sustainable and scalable social businesses. We do this by running Accelerator and Incubator programmes, empowering entrepreneurs through seed funding, intensive training and capacity building, networks and credibility. I am responsible for developing and running our core programme of support for social entrepreneurs, building partnerships and securing funding, raising the profile of social entrepreneurship as a sector in Ethiopia, managing our operations and budget, and managing our team.

Helped develop the strategy for and run new grant giving foundation that harnesses the innovation and talent of the tech sector to transform young lives. Working alongside tech companies, we discover and nurture ideas that shake up the way things are done. We do so in two ways - we launch social start-ups with disruptive ideas to improve young people’s lives across London and East Africa, and we create digital products to enable social organisations to improve their impact.Led on discovering and building exceptional African and London based start-ups which transform young lives, helping them to prove their model and get into a position where they are ready to scale. Joined the founder in its early days to develop a new social enterprise which equips students with the enterprise skills, experience of work and aspirations they need to succeed. We did so by partnering with top businesses like PwC, Virgin and Hamleys to bring the world of work into the classroom through a combination of lesson-time projects, challenge days and trips to our business supporters.As the second staff member of the organisation I was involved in all areas of work, from developing our strategy and curriculum to selling into schools, managing those partnerships, running teacher training sessions and teaching students aged 5-18. I also led on marketing and managed our volunteer programme.
