CurrentIndividuals and Societies: Annapolis Middle School: International Baccalaureate School:Annapolis Middle School is a Title One school with varied demographics. The IB Middle Years Program at Annapolis Middle School focuses on developing students’ intellectual, personal, emotional and social skills to live, learn and work in a rapidly globalizing world. I teach students how to be Principled, Reflective, Knowledgeable, Open-minded, Risk-Takers, Balanced, Thinkers, Inquirers, Caring, and Communicators by creating and implementing differentiated fun, engaging lessons and assessments for these varied learners which follow Common Core Standards and necessary skill sets. The units cover the medieval period through the modern era and cover Europe, Russia/Eurasia, the Middle East, South Asia, South East Asia and the Pacific Rim. Students learn about the world through a political, economic, geographic and social lens. I also collaborate with other Social Studies teachers to align and strengthen lessons and collaborate with other subject areas to create cross curriculum differentiated lessons. Additionally, I participate in weekly professional development classes. I also participate in weekly meetings focused on data analysis and re-teaching strategies.
