Providing reading support to both Spanish immersion classrooms and English-speaking classrooms. Assisting students in developing and expanding their reading strategies. Teaching literacy.

Implemented eleven weeks of Bike Camps for up to 12 youth per camp (ages 6-14). Taught bike skills: instructed campers on bike handling, traffic safety, and bike maintenance. Led games and facilitated conversations which allowed all participants to engage in group decision-making. Engaged in productive conflict management, accommodated camper needs, and interrupted oppressive behaviors.

Café au Play was an amazing nonprofit coffeehouse and community center in SE Portland. It provided important services to the surrounding community including: donation-based entertainment for small children and parents, a welcoming and inclusive space for parents to build relationships and support networks, and a barista training program for high school and college students to build their skill sets and resumes. The cafe recently closed; however, I am very grateful for the professional growth opportunity that working there provided me.I started at Café au Play as an Assistant Manager. My responsibility was to support the Cafe Manager and the Barista Training Program Manager in their duties. After working at the café for six months, I was promoted to Barista Training Program Manager. My daily responsibilities were:• selecting students for the training program out of a pool of applicants• giving orientations to new trainees about the mission and expectations of Cafe au Play• training barista students in pulling shots, steaming milk, latte art, customer service, food preparation, and basic job skills.• supervising the work and efficiency of multiple barista students while managing the daily operations of the cafe.While I was working as the Barista Training Program Manager, I was also responsible for growing our student-run cafe called Night Grounds Coffeehouse. Night Grounds was open on Thursday and Friday nights and was a space where barista students could host their own events and could take on greater leadership roles during open hours at the cafe. Night Grounds opened in September of 2015. When I took over leadership of the Barista Training Program in January, I ensured that there were events taking place at the cafe every Thursday and Friday night, including open mics, poetry readings, fundraisers, concerts, and art openings.

I was a contributor to the Portland Homestead Supply's blog for a year. I conducted interviews with their vendors, photographed the vendors and their products, and produced blog posts that highlighted the behind-the-scenes process of the products sold at the Homestead Supply. I also wrote a few research pieces, one on the various CSA (Community Supported Agriculture) options in Portland and another on seed-saving techniques and resources.
