About Anna Davis

Anna Davis is a curator, writer and researcher based on Gadigal land in Sydney. Specialising in Australian and international contemporary art, her research interests lie at the intersections of art, technology and future ecologies. As Curator at the Museum of Contemporary Art (MCA) Australia, she is instrumental in developing the Museum’s exhibition program and is known for her interdisciplinary projects that extend beyond the gallery walls. Davis is the curator of over twenty major exhibitions at the MCA including: Nicholas Mangan: A World Undone (2024, with Anneke Jaspers), Tarek Atoui: Waters’ Witness (2023), Ultra Unreal: New Myths for New Worlds (2022), Sun Xun (2018), Jenny Watson: The Fabric of Fantasy (2017), New Romance: Art and the Posthuman, presented at MMCA Korea and MCA Australia (2015/16, with Houngcheol Choi), Energies: Haines & Hinterding (2015), Louise Hearman (2015) and Claire Healy and Sean Cordeiro (2012). In 2022, she was one of five co-curators of rīvus, the 23rd Biennale of Sydney (2022), which focused on more-than-human perspectives and was presented as a series of imagined ecosystems across the city (with José Roca, Artistic Director; Pascal Dantos Berry; Hannah Donnely; and Talia Linz).Davis is the author and editor of numerous exhibition catalogues and artist's monographs. She speaks regularly on contemporary art, with a focus on emerging technologies and experimental practices. Davis holds a PhD in Media Arts and a Bachelor of Fine Arts with Honours from the University of New South Wales.
