Provide diagnostic and standardized educational testing services to incarcerated adults to determine/assess eligibility for educational programs, assist with educational program planning, and determine eligibility for academic credentials, such as the GED.

Teach mathematics to college students on campus, at the Fluvanna Correctional Center for Women, at the Buckingham Correctional Center for Men, and online (both synchronous and asynchronous lessons). Use Blackboard and Canvas Learning Management Systems, along with Hawkes Learning System, Pearson’s MyMathLab, Knewton, WebAssign, OERs, and other resources to help students develop their knowledge and skills in mathematics.

Teach Geometry in a blended learning environment where students learn in person some days and remotely on other days.

Teach Honors Trigonometry/Math Analysis and Advanced Algebra 2

Collect, analyze, and manipulate large files of student data, including grades, attendance, discipline, and assessment data, focusing on maintaining data integrity. Make informed decisions on how best to load information into the PowerSchool/Performance Matters Analytics platform. Work in Microsoft Excel and Access daily to crosswalk data, troubleshoot problems, and query large sets of data. Work directly with school districts’ technology staff, administrators, and teachers to ensure their data is displayed in a meaningful way, with an emphasis on assessment and growth of student performance.

Responsible for the creation, alignment, delivery, and maintenance of content for PowerSchool products. Research and share knowledge of state, national, and international academic standards. Work collaboratively with assessment specialists and item writers to provide detailed and timely feedback for content creation based upon best practices for assessment item development. Develop, follow, and deliver item/assessment development plans aligned to state and national academic standards. Complete bias and sensitivity reviews. Assess and maintain content developed by PowerSchool and third parties. Respond to client inquiries, comments, and suggestions. Participate in professional development activities. Assist in redesign of company style guide and item writing best practices.

Use technology to create lessons, tests, manage grades, communicate with parents and co-workers, keep a class website, create math videos to supplement lessons. Provide assistance to students during a morning tutorial time, and after school. Used PowerSchool for attendance, grades, and reports. Use an online student information system daily. Work collaboratively with Special Education students and staff to help all students reach their individual potential. Plan instruction that provides differentiation and enrichment at all levels.

As the only math teacher at the Fluvanna County Intervention Center, I planned instruction that provided differentiation and enrichment at all levels. While all students received direct instruction from me and had daily book assignments, I used a wide variety of computer software programs to enhance and manage instruction making it possible to teach multiple course levels within one classroom. Designed and taught a synchronous online math class to a gifted 5th grade student using Elluminate and a digital tablet. Maintained constant contact with the student’s home school so that the student would be on the same page as classmates the day s/he returned to school. Used PowerSchool for grades, attendance, and reports.

Teach mathematics to adult college students online. Use e-college for the learning management system. Communicate with students daily using discussion boards, email, and a digital tablet. Hold virtual office hours where students can meet with me in a virtual classroom via Elluminate, or contact me via Skype, email, or telephone. Grade online work as well as hardcopies sent to me in various formats. Manage assignments within Pearson’s My Math Lab. Maintain a pleasant academic environment where students are comfortable asking and answering questions, as well as encouraging one another on a daily basis. Received 4 weeks of training on the Socratic Teaching Method. Participate in ongoing professional development.

Initially administered cognitive and neuropsychological tests over a 6-week period to kindergarten through 2nd grade children enrolled in an afterschool program. Following testing, responsible for providing fine motor skills intervention to a small group of students during the after school program. During the final phase of the research, responsible for post-testing students.

Score tests taken by adults working to gain certification to teach mathematics. All scoring is done online using ETS’ software.

Taught Advanced Math (Pre-calculus with Trigonometry), Algebra II Honors, Algebra II, Gifted Algebra I, and remediation math classes. Coached Math ACE team through an undefeated season. Participated in numerous technology courses including i-chat, Mac School, PowerSchool, United Streaming, Researching Online, Power Blogging, and i-cam. Kept a daily web log on the internet to help students succeed, keep parents informed, and make access to on-line learning materials easy for students and parents to benefit from. Used PowerSchool for grades, attendance, and reports.
