LSCDS serves to bridge the gap between academia and industry to provide opportunities for academics to build their career knowledge. As the Marketing Lead, the purpose of our team is to bring awareness about various LSCDS initiatives and enhance the professionalism of our social media branding.

We provide opportunities for academics to network with professionals and build their career knowledge. As a member of the 2022-2023 Executive Team, our overall goal in the 'Outreach Team' is to bring awareness to current students and trainees of the various career paths available to them after their graduate studies by communicating about LSCDS opportunities and events. Part of my role on this team is to help launch a new initiative this year, the creation of a podcast series. U of T's "Adventures in Science" is a Faculty of Medicine mentorship program in which mentors promote the importance of scientific discovery. The purpose is to help Grade 11/12 students think critically about their scientific mindset and communication for their use in their post-secondary science education. As mentors, we guide our mentees in developing a project/lesson with a scientifically focused background that culminates in a presentation to elementary school students. Together with 40 other RA’s, I underwent two weeks of intensive training concerning safety protocols, knowledge about on-campus resources, and hands-on problem-solving tools. I was chosen by Dr. Petreaca out of a group of 30 students for the Immunology Research Lab. My independent project was on a specific nutraceutical found in coffee—namely, Chlorogenic Acid—and its anti-inflammatory properties within neutrophil mechanisms. I was chosen by Dr. Petreaca out of a group of 30 students for the Immunology Research Lab. I studied and performed a vast range of advanced experimental techniques that applied to my research, which focused on changes in the immune system in the lungs in response to repeat influenza infections.
