As an Information Aid at the Smithsonian National Zoo, I am one of the employees whose prepared to answer questions about locations or where certain animals, or any personal questions about how to donate, become a member, what is kids friendly in zoo. I have been involved with the National Zoo for over three years during winter and summer breaks. I currently focus on informing people about our membership opportunities and explain how the donation benefits the animals.

My responsibilities are to inform guests of the benefits of becoming a Friends of The National Zoo Member. I would include information on how guest can save; as well as how the monetary donations will continue to help animals.

As a volunteer receptionist I had the opportunity to answer questions to visiting guests about the current galleries and occasionally the town. Through this volunteer opportunity, my love for art work and history grew as I got the opportunity to meet the collectors or artists of the exhibits.

I was working with children in an aftercare program once a week for about two hours. The volunteers would help create positive experiences for children who live within communities where gang violence might be prevalent. The goal for this program is to help the children create positive friendship withinin the beginning years of the educational systems, in hopes that the children will stay away from gangs as they grow older.

As a volunteer at the Newseum, I helped direct people to certain interested each individual had. As well as, I would try to learn more information about topics that were displayed within the museum, in case the public would have more in depth questions, and if I did not have the information, I would try to help direct them to where that person could find the answer.

As an assistant spokesperson for Spot the Block, I would help talk to middle schoolers and their parents about how to eat healthier. The groups we would talk to would be in possibly impoverish areas and we would explain that you do not have to buy organic food to eat healthy. We had interactive ways to teach others about the Nutrition label on the foods in the grocery stores.
