In my role as the Evening Manager, I assumed full managerial responsibilities to guarantee the seamless operation of the store during evening hours. My scope of duties encompassed several critical aspects vital for upholding a superior standard of service and operational efficiency. Store Presentation was a primary focus area, where I took charge of maintaining the store's presentation standards. This involved ensuring cleanliness, organization, and visual appeal to enhance the shopping experience for customers. Security emerged as a top priority, with the safety and well-being of both customers and employees being paramount concerns. I oversaw the implementation of security measures to protect everyone within the premises and uphold adherence to company policies, particularly in high-pressure situations. Delivering exceptional Customer Service was a key objective. I placed significant emphasis on training and supervising staff to consistently meet and surpass customer expectations, thereby enhancing satisfaction levels. Financial Management constituted another crucial aspect of my role. Handling daily transactions ranging from $10,000 to $20,000, I maintained meticulous bookkeeping records to ensure financial integrity and accountability. Employee Management was integral to fostering a positive work environment. I led a team of employees, undertaking various responsibilities such as conducting corrective action discussions, providing mentorship, and implementing effective management strategies. Effective Communication served as a cornerstone in executing my duties. I facilitated clear and open communication channels among employees, upper management, and division leaders to ensure everyone remained well-informed and aligned with company objectives.

I was employed in this position as an Activity Leader. I was responsible for introducing international students to the city of Plymouth, and to help facilitate their English speaking skills. I also was in charge of cultural and communication clubs, as well as taking students on day trips to various locations in England to help immerse them in the culture here. It was my responsibility to make sure the students are learning English in their field of work, as well as to ensure they were having fun and learning about different cultures. I accomplished this by creating and running games that facilitate their English abilities, and help them meet others from different parts of the world.

This was a position I was selected for to be the subject of an international student profile for the University of Plymouth, England. This was an as-needed position, and I was only needed once. I was required to pose for photos, give interviews, and participate in other activities for the university to use as part of their international marketing. From this, I was given my own international alumni page on the university’s website, as well as featured in their marketing pamphlet that was distributed to all of their partner schools in the US. As a member of the Instructional Technology Resource Center (ITRC) team at Idaho State University, my role revolved around assisting faculty members in leveraging technology to enhance their teaching methods and facilitate effective learning-centered instruction. I worked closely with various University support services and ensured that faculty have access to comprehensive resources and expertise tailored to their instructional needs. My aim was to streamline the process for educators, providing them with a single, convenient location to explore and implement the best practices in instructional technology. I provided personalized assistance throughout the instructional design process. My role at the ITRC was to empower faculty members with the tools and knowledge they needed to create dynamic and engaging learning experiences for their students.

I held this job while I was completing my undergraduate degree, which is a BA in secondary education with an emphasis in biology. While I was student teaching full time for five months, I frequently substituted for teachers at my school, which is what I was paid for, I held the responsibility of a professional teacher, including student care, student education, lesson planning, parental involvement, and more. I learned how to educate students with different abilities and learning curves, and how to more effectively manage my time and the time of my co-teachers.

This was an unpaid "job" I held during the final year of my undergraduate degree. I held all the responsibilities of a professional teacher across two different schools, however since this was for my education, I was unpaid. All of my responsibilities for this position are the same as in my "substitute teacher" role. Additionally, for the first half of the school year, I was enrolled in other classes. This taught me how to manage my time and those of others when balancing many tasks at once, which is a skill I have carried with me in my day to day life.

I was responsible for the care and education of children aged 10 and under, including infants. I worked here for the spring and summer between my second and third year in college, and left this position to focus on my education. I was also responsible for the feeding and behavior of the children, and discipline where appropriate. Additionally, I met with parents and handled payments.

I began this position as a work study student during the first year of my undergraduate degree at Idaho State University. While here, I was responsible for the care and wellbeing of the animals in the education department, including snakes, owls, turtles, and more. In addition, I was responsible for educating young children on the safety and nature of these animals. It was during this job that I first found my love for education, as well as the need for patience and awareness. I learned to be patient with different audiences, and how to explain concepts in different ways. I also learned how to be constantly aware of my surroundings, which is especially important when dealing with wild animals and children. This position was also my introduction to doing effective research, which is something I carry with me now as I am completing my master's dissertation, which has a strong research influence.

When I was promoted to working in the Starbucks in the Safeway store, I further developed my skills in time management and customer care, and began to learn how to multitask efficiently and to the satisfaction of the company. I was responsible for closing and opening duties, often by myself, where tasks had to be done quickly and correctly. Overall, this first job helped me to create a solid foundation of professionalism and skillful working.

I held this position during the last two years of my high school career. I worked for Safeway for two years, doing various positions. These included being a courtesy clerk (grocery bagger), floral clerk, and sample clerk. In addition, I began working in the Starbucks within Safeway in April of 2014. With this being my first job, I gained the foundation to build valuable skills, such as time management, working in a team, and problem solving. I was responsible for the customer satisfaction and the cleanliness of the store, which are both skills I carried on developing in my future endeavors.
