Visitor Engagement Programs Manager
Director Of Education
Oversee all aspects of the Education Department at the Greenwich Historical Society and the Bush-Holley House Site. Primary responsibilities include managing a staff that consists of a Tours and Youth Programs Manager and 13 Docents, managing the department budget, organizing public programming, developing community relations and consulting on exhibitions.Special Projects include a partnership with Hamilton Ave Elementary School. We have developed a five year curriculum that effects all students 1st-5th grade. It includes five site visits, two in class art projects and a 5th grade student docent training program. The year culminates with a student art exhibit on the Historical Society's Site and open house tour of the Bush-Holley House.I am also responsible for developing an online learning template to supplement the school visits and provide greater access to our resources for high school students.
School Programs Manager
Oversee all school programs and tours. Develop and evaluate a five year partnership with Hamilton Avenue Elementary School. This five year program includes on site tours for 1st-5th graders. Classroom projects for 3rd and 4th graders. Fifth grade docent training and an exhibition for student work. After five years we are looking at ways the museum can be better integrated into the curriculum and the success of the students identifying with Greenwich history and art. I also oversee all tour requests and docent training.
Participatory Design Intern
Designed and executed a participatory gallery for the fall 2012 exhibition, Santa Cruz Collects. This project combined site specific works by local artists with photographs from the museum collection to inspire pieces made and contributed by museum visitors. -Assisted preparator with the install of the summer and fall exhibitions.- Accompanied the curators during on site visits for potential loan items-Prototyped activities during a 1st Friday Event, avg. 2,784 visitors in attendance.-Attended staff meetings and exhibition team meetings.
Docent
Lead tours of all ages and levels of art experience through the galleries and grounds of the museum by using inquiry based education methods. The main goal of the guides is to encourage guests to discuss their own observations of the artworks.-Completed a nine-month training course that including a survey of modern art and a focus on Visual Thinking Methods. Must attend ten days of training throughout the year to cover new material for temporary shows. -Attended special training for Snowshoe tours.-Aided Steven Siegel in the construction of his site specific work Big, with Rift in 2009-Led children activities at the Art in the Park Event and for Eye Wonder family programs.
Interpretation Intern
Worked beside the Education Curators in their preparation for the winter biennial exhibition, which featured twenty-three artists and artist collaboratives. Aided in program organization and interpretive planning.-Recorded, transcribed and edited content for eight interviews on the audio tour.- Designed an interactive gallery space featuring five artists.- Aided in the installation of the winter biennial. -Assisted in exhibition related programming including artists projects, events off site, lectures and school workshops. -Assisted in guide training by creating reading packets, presenting artist works and designing questions for use in tours for all ages.-Participated in curatorial and education staff meetings focusing on interpretive planning, grant proposals, committee meetings and general discussions.
