I spent 3 months in NIBRT investigating "PolyLacNAcylation in the Glycoproteome of Chinese Hamster Ovary Cells". This was my thesis project for the completion of my masters in biopharmaceutical engineering.

While working in Wyeth Nutrition, I was a member of the Analytical Development (AD) department. The work performed in this department is the validation and verification of new methods to be used in the laboratories, in my case, in the chemistry department. While working on these assays, I learned how to operate the software, troubleshoot a system, set up methods and sequences, and the general running of the instrument. While working on the sample prep bench and GC, I looked at the validation of a scale down of a fatty acid profile method. The sample prep bench reduced the exposure to harsh chemicals while operating at a smaller scale. The samples were then further analysed by GC. My responsibilities as a hostess included greeting customers upon arrival and bringing them to their table. I had to manage all of the waitresses assigned sections to ensure that each received an equal number of customers.

I predominantly worked in the footwear department whereby I underwent both on the floor sales and stockroom management. I participated in a number of quarterly stock take audits. I was also chosen by management to be the note taker at an end stage disciplinary hearing.
