Taught both BTRY 3010: Biological Statistics and ILRST 2100: Introductory Statistics as a teaching assistant. Organized, developed, and presented at alumni events to raise awareness of our programs. Met with prospective students to highlight our work at Shoals Marine Laboratory and sent emails to student organizations to promote the lab. Conducted administrative work to help with recruitment, financial aid, and other paper work under the faculty academic.

Worked with Danionella dracula and analyzed aggressive male fish behaviors and movements. Studied the aggressive behavior and acoustic communication these male fish exhibit and analyzed using sound wave analysis software and statistical programming.

Taught BIOEE 1610: Ecology and the Environment as the only undergraduate teaching assistant in one of Cornell University’s largest introductory courses. Curated and developed weekly lesson plans and taught 20 students every week on Zoom and in-person format (depending on the semester). Encouraged students to apply lecture material to critical thinking.

Appledore Island

Gathered footage, edited, and created 4 high quality videos over the course of 18 days to highlight Unitil and Shoals Marine Laboratory’s joint sustainability initiatives. Was responsible for generating and curating social media posts on both companies’ social media channels. Worked to bridge the gap between science and the public through video creation.

Worked with PhD candidate at University of California, Davis to compile a data base of shark social behaviors. Extensively read hundreds of scientific literature specific to my assigned species and noted observed behaviors into a large data base.

Examined the diel vertical movements of Pacific sleeper sharks (Somniosus pacificus) in the Gulf of Alaska using wavelet transformations via R coding to understand how this relates to their behavior. Worked with shark tagging data with over 30,000 data points and applied integrated ecosystem analysis methods to understand the local ecosystem as a whole..

Used micro-CT scanning and histology to study the structure of White Shark teeth. Researched the microanatomy of developing teeth in White Sharks.
