As Community Liaison Advisor at the Ministry of Social Development, I play a vital role in connecting the ministry with the communities it serves. This role focuses on stakeholder engagement and external communications, fostering relationships with diverse community groups, NGOs, and other government agencies. I am skilled in acting as a bridge, gathering feedback from communities, sharing information about ministry programmes and initiatives, and ensuring the ministry's work aligns with the needs and priorities of the people they serve. This includes participating in external media releases, social media, community events, facilitating workshops and developing communication strategies to effectively disseminate information and build trust.

Since the merger of all SPCA centres in New Zealand to become one single entity on November 2017, my job changed to report to Nationally, rather than just covering Canterbury. I am developed an Internal Communications strategy for the new structure, as well as managing media enquiries, website and social media development.

I was head hunted from my previous role to take on the position of Communications and Marketing Manager at SPCA Canterbury. In this role, I was in charge of a range of marketing campaigns, digital marketing, strategic planning, collateral production, internal communications, media and social media management.I was in charge of budget, as well as perfomance, for the centre’s entire marketing and communications operations. In this role, I also oversaw the management of SPCA's OpShop, which included managing several direct reports.

I worked in marketing and public relations at CPIT, helping communicate with staff, students and external stakeholders.I worked to implement marketing campaigns and communications strategies in a number of ways:I consulted on marketing campaigns, produced press releases, handled media enquiries, wrote,uploaded and managed content for the CPIT website, delivered targeted marketing advertorials, managed CPIT's five social media channels and undertook photography and filming.In this role I also carried out internal communications across the faculty, educated staff and students on aspects of media and assisted with collateral production and event planning when necessary.In this role I specialised in digital and social media marketing. I am proud to have grown CPIT’s Facebook channel from 2,000 followers to 10,000 followers within two years I was in this role, as well as developing an Instagram account for them.

For two years I worked as a reporter at The Press newspaper. I started working as a breaking news reporter, covering all aspects of news for both the newspaper and the website. In 2013, I was promoted to the Social Affairs reporter, covering a wide range of local and national significance on a range of issues affecting the community.I have broken many exclusive stories and often covering stories of national significance. Some of my most well-read stories have been:- South African man faces deportation due to obesity- Getting jobless in work labelled ‘sinister’- Christchurch gambling culture revealed- A three part series on Christchurch’s housing crisis- A three part series on the legalisation of same-sex marriage- A five part series on the Christchurch City MissionWhile at The Press, I was a finalist in the Fairfax Women of Influence Awards in Sydney for my work on women and advocating for social change.I also possess the ability to do Teeline shorthand up to 120 words per minute.

I was a weekly columnist for The Press and press.co.nz, with my columns presenting a young person’s perspective on life. The column, called Anna’s Turn, was very well-received and gave me the opportunity to demonstrate creativity in my writing. I was the editor of the monthly magazine Lifestyles, published by APN.I managed content for the magazine, instructed sub-editors, proofread pages and oversaw all production.I also wrote content for the magazine including editorial comment, feature articles and restaurant reviews.

The Star

I worked as a general reporter and weekly columnist at The Star in the aftermath of the Canterbury Earthquake. I covered some major events for The Star, such as the Royal Commission of Inquiry into the Canterbury earthquakes. Many of these stories were picked up and run in the New Zealand Herald.I was also The Star's web editor, uploading and managing content on The Star’s website. I monitored traffic on the website and our daily page hits greatly increased after I took over control of the site.I also managed The Star’s social media via Facebook and Twitter by updating content and regularly interacting with our readers.
