This three-part course will introduce students to the basics of proposal writing and provide practical training for winning grant funding. Class I will cover planning, including the types of documentation needed, logic models and program evaluation tools and budgets. In Class II, we will examine research sites and how to identify potential funders, look at ways to find and develop the “best fit” donors for a specific program/project and basic proposal writing including clarity, types of proposals, how proposals are structured and entering on-line submissions. Class III will be an interactive discussion session of proposal assignments and a “wrap-up” discussion.

Major Accomplishments:Fund-raising writing and editing: Assessed study results and wrote pre-campaign feasibility study reports, campaign case statements, campaign materials and major gift proposals. Financial management: Established budgets and guidelines. Managed accounts payable and receivable and performed general accounting duties.

Major Accomplishments:Provided administrative support for Geohydrology section chief and seven division scientists.Edited and produced final copy of field guides, abstracts, grant proposals, and technical papers.
