My role as content marketing specialist involved collaboratively planning and implementing the overall direction of our content marketing efforts as well as writing various forms of marketing materials including blog posts, articles, whitepapers, press releases, website copy, case studies, and social media content. I worked closely with client managers in developing thought leadership content based on their experience working with our wide range of clients from the government, manufacturing, institutional, oil and gas, and energy sectors across the country. Using both qualitative and quantitative marketing research to inform our positioning, I worked to develop content that provided meaningful insights to our clients; I also provided means for project managers and client managers to then communicate those insights through presentations and more general communications. I led the marketing planning and strategy efforts for the firm's second largest business unit and was successful in carrying out that strategy effectively throughout the year.

My role of editorial assistant expanded to that of editorial associate to allow me to take on more responsibility in generating ideas for potential future publications and expand my capacity as a primary resource for authors. My ability to solve complex issues, respond quickly and effectively to requests, and approach each challenge with resourcefulness and professionalism allowed me to excel in fostering positive relationships with important external contacts. I worked closely with production, sales, and marketing in making decisions related to an assortment of titles. Two projects I was particularly excited to be a part of while in this role were the audio recordings of The Little Prince by Viggo Mortensen, and the Iris and Walter series by award-winning director and actor Christopher Guest.

My role as an editorial assistant required balancing the needs of two different imprints: paperbacks and franchise. For both imprints I was responsible for managing the needs of authors, illustrators, and agents on a daily basis. I worked closely with design, marketing, sales, managing editorial, and production to manage the publishing process of several titles of my own on each seasonal list. I was also responsible for creating bi-annual presentations on my titles to the sales, marketing, and publicity teams. This position involved reading unsolicited submissions and evaluating them for publication potential, as well as evaluating books from foreign publishers for the possibility of purchasing U.S. rights. I wrote jacket copy, website copy, and generated possibilities for marketing positioning related to all of my titles and many titles being managed by other editors on our team.

As the assistant to the publisher, I was responsible for taking care of many of the day-to-day tasks associated with the operations of the Children's Book Group. I managed the title acquisition process, setting up new titles in company databases and distributing news throughout the company. I was also the point of communication for authors, illustrators, and agents--managing various requests related to author events, book availability, and questions for the publisher. I provided general administrative support to the Publisher, including making travel arrangements, planning meetings, preparing and submitting expense reports, correspondence, and mailings. In this role I also planned events for the Publisher, one of which took place in Bologna, Italy, requiring researching and coordinating with international contacts.
