Food Choice Project-Studied the impact of the gut microbiome on host metabolism and neural activation by conducting qPCRs to quantify bacterial metabolite production and analyzing microscopy images of mouse brains. Mercury Project-Engineered mer operon genes into an intestinal microbe to demethylate methylmercury and tested microbe’s effectiveness to reduce toxicity following acute and chronic exposures, as well as confer protective effects to a developing fetus.

-Led an effort to design, build, and maintain an aquaponics system on UCLA’s campus with $55,000+ of funding; garnered support from campus administration; established collaborations with stakeholders.-Organized meetings, managed Slack, oversaw documents, devised tasks and delegated responsibilities.-Spearheaded recruitment initiatives and developed comprehensive onboarding processes that expanded the team from 5 to 32 members, enhancing team capabilities.
