As an environmental geochemist, I focused my research on understanding the processes that control and impact carbon cycling in the Chihuahuan Desert. My dissertation’s main focus was to determine the impact that different land-management and continuous irrigation have on dryland soil quality, specifically focusing on salinization, pedogenic carbonate formation (CaCO3) and CO2 emissions and diffusion in agricultural critical zones near the Rio Grande.
