Here, I learned about anxiety counseling and treatments from psychologists in-person. •Also spoke with Mama Munira, the first midwife in Jordan who has revolutionized education of family planning methods and reproductive healthcare for refugees. • Interned at the Institute for Family Health’s Sweileh clinic in the psychosocial unit. • Shadowed professional mental health counselors and studied multicultural approaches to counseling, in the context of refugees’ reported experiences, such as anxiety, depression, PTSD, OCD, sexual or gender-based violence. • Granted permission to observe individual, private counseling sessions with refugee women from Syria, Yemen, and South Sudan, and learned about refugees’ diagnoses and situations post-session with Dr. Shrouq.
