Director Early Years, Social Outreach
I was responsible for the Early Years area within Social Outreach - building capacity to support the physical, mental and emotional wellness of vulnerable and disadvantaged communities. This involved the development and management of programs, projects and services for families with children four years and younger.During this time I oversaw a growth strategy to reach more families and children. I drove the development of a consistent approach to service delivery, performance indicators and reporting across all services to ensure that all were working optimally. As well I fostered and maintained relationships with key strategic partners and stakeholders in order to work together to achieve agreed outcomes and identify funding opportunities.

I implemented the Early Years component of the reconfigured Social Outreach and Advocacy area and determined areas of growth and partnership development. This included the coordination and support of the national Social Outreach perinatal and infant mental health services and programs. This was a time of significant expansion of Early Years services, programs and projects across the organisation to support more families. I formed a new governance structure for the Early Years programs to facilitate all key stakeholders working well together to achieve agreed outcomes. During this time I had two extended periods of Acting Group Director Social Outreach and Advocacy, providing support and guidance to the broader Social Outreach team in the delivery of services and programs.

As well I convened state-wide forums to connect those working in primary care across the State, updating knowledge and identifying common goals and ways to improve primary health care.
Acting Primary Mental Health Coordinator & Principal Advisor, Mental Health
In this acting national role I oversaw national primary mental health care initiatives to ensure a coordinated approach across the nation to support the provision of effective primary mental health care. This also involved providing representation at national and state forums. As well I developed an on-line training program for the Better Outcomes in Mental Health Care initiative to broaden the training options for general practitioners so that more could be part of the initiative and provide better mental health care for their patients.
Primary Mental Health Development And Liaison Officer
This state-wide role involved the coordination of primary mental health care initiatives in Western Australia. I set up and coordinated the WA Primary Mental Health Care Network, linking people working in the primary health care sector and delivering effective rollout of programs. This included organising State-wide conferences in primary care mental health to facilitate networking and knowledge gathering. At a national and State levels I contributed to the implementation of the Better Outcomes in Mental Health Initiative to improve mental health care in general practice, resulting in the highest uptake of all states. I established the WA Primary Mental Health Care Reference Group, ensuring representation from key stakeholders, to develop common goals and progress primary mental health care in the State.
Youth Health Project Officer And Contiuning Medical Education Coordinator
My roles here included the implementation of the Fremantle Youth Health Project and the coordination of the Continuing Medical Education program. I developed a youth health GP training program, including placements at a youth health clinic, to improve health outcomes for young people in the Fremantle area. This also involved promoting youth health issues and the significant role of general practitioners in this area of health care so that services could be delivered more appropriately. I supported staff to implement programs to up skill GPs to deliver best practice health care to their patients. This work included planning and coordinating the annual Continuing Medical Education Conference to update skills and knowledge in order to improve primary health care.
