About Anna Rooke

Can contemporary evolution help wild populations persist under dramatic environmental change? I am interested in how evolutionary physiology allows wild populations to live in diverse and rapidly changing environments. I am also passionate about scientific literacy and working to develop engaging ways to teach people about science.

BIOL4210: Ichthyology - Fish are the most diverse vertebrate group on the planet, including over 34 000 species. They have evolved into an astonishing variety of physical forms allowing them to inhabit a wide range of environments. In this course, we explore how to classify and document this diversity, and learn how morphological and physiological features have evolved to deal with specific environmental challenges. This course is designed to emphasize active, student-directed learning, and highlights the power of creative communication in science.
