I lead an ensemble of full and part-time educators to create, implement, and evaluate programming for teachers and students in Pre-K through grade 12. Along with the team, I have developed and launched Skirball’s Teacher Advisory Council, a cohort of local educators who weigh in on and test our learner-centered curricula, including Noah’s Ark at the Skirball: The Art of Imagination, winner of the 2021 Superintendent’s Award for Excellence in Museum Education.Our online and in-person programs include gallery tours, live performances, in-school residencies, and a series of workshops for educators focused on strengthening students’ creative problem-solving, collaboration, leadership, and civic literacy skills. I’m experienced in developing mission-aligned, data-driven offerings that connect audiences to arts, culture, history, and most of all, to one another. Other areas of focus include program assessment, coaching and mentoring educators, as well as effectively collaborating across departments on exhibitions, grant writing, print and web-based materials, and other institution-wide initiatives.

In this role, I created gallery programs for students and teachers in grades 5-12 which included developing, implementing, and assessing gallery tours related to permanent and changing exhibitions on topics such as archaeology of the Near East, American history and democratic ideals, immigration, and civic engagement. In partnership with teaching artists and local high schools, I led an in-school artist residency program that encouraged students to engage with issues important in their lives and to use art as tool for civic and social action. As part of the School and Teacher Programs team, I collaborated with staff, teaching artists, and partner organizations to train, coach, and evaluate staff and volunteer educators responsible for facilitating gallery-based school programs; monitored educator’s performance and provided instruction to enrich their knowledge as to enhance tour content and facilitation skills. Facilitated school programs for elementary and high school audiences on a regular basis.
