As Research Director for the Strategic Science Group (SSG) programme ‘Consumer, Perception and Behaviour’, I am responsible for the scientific quality and future direction of exploratory research ranging from neuroscience to consumer behaviour change, ensuring Unilever’s long-term competitiveness. I am also Operations Director for the EVP, Global R&D, Unilever. Since joining Unilever in 1998, I have led innovation projects spanning many different consumer targets, across all Unilever’s product categories and many key markets — including Brazil, Russia, India and China. I collaborate with leading universities in Europe and Asia and received significant public funding from Europe and the UK to explore the application of neuroimaging to scientific questions of fundamental importance to Unilever. I am also Visiting Professor at the Department of Food Engineering, EWHA Womans University, Seoul, Korea
