In my role as natural resources engineer, I perform hydraulic analyses and develop designs for fish-passable structures. I have utilized modeling software such as SRH-2D, HEC-RAS, MGS Flood, Civil 3D, and ArcGIS for use in model development, scour risk analyses, flooding risk analyses, and other other aspects pertaining to developing a sustainable and passable design. An integral part of these efforts are the field reconnaissance my collogues and I perform to detail the unique features of each site. I am passionate about reflecting that unique makeup of each site in my modeling and, subsequently, creating designs that integrate into a natural, thriving environment.

As a riverine engineer contracted by the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA), I have worked on various aspects of hydraulic engineering. My models have been used to create flood maps that officially determine the different levels of risk within a community and the level of regulation applied to affected areas. My work spanned from terrain processing and analysis using ArcGIS, hydraulic modelling using HEC-RAS and HY-8 (including the incorporation of raw surveyed bathymetry data), and reporting final modelling results through technical documentation in accordance with formal data capture standards.
