Anna Barvir is a partner at the Long Beach law firm Michel & Associates, P.C. She practices civil litigation and appeals with an emphasis on constitutional law and civil rights matters. Her expertise includes firearms litigation, LGBT discrimination law, civil rights advocacy, and civil appeals. Ms. Barvir has worked on several high-profile cases in constitutional law and civil rights. She is the lead attorney in Duncan v. Becerra, the lawsuit that successfully challenged California’s ban on ammunition magazines over 10 rounds on Second Amendment and Takings Clause grounds. She was also an integral part of the Parker v. California team that overturned three state laws regulating the sale of ammunition as unconstitutionally vague. Thanks in large part to Ms. Barvir’s advocacy, the trial court decision was upheld by the California Court of Appeal.Ms. Barvir graduated magna cum laude from Whittier Law School in 2009, earning her Juris Doctor and Certificate in Legal Writing. During law school, she served as Executive Editor of the Whittier Law Review and Treasurer of the Student Bar Association. Upon graduation, Ms. Barvir was awarded the Whittier Law School Dean’s Citation Award for Outstanding Leadership and Service to the Law School Community.
