C.D "Chuck" Michel has an extensive legal background and experience in a variety of practice areas, but he is best known as one of the leading authorities on federal and California firearm laws, and for his litigation and trial experience in high-profile 2nd Amendment cases.As Founder and Senior Partner at Michel & Associates, the largest firearms law firm in the U.S., he has been instrumental in defending 2nd Amendment rights, and shaping legislation for over two decades. He has crafted some of the most important legal challenges to laws that infringe on the 2nd Amendment, and his firm represents many of the most prominent firearms businesses and civil rights associations. He is a frequent contributor to media discussions concerning 2nd Amendment litigation and firearms law and is regularly quoted and profiled in multiple national publications and in TV & radio interviews. He has published extensively on firearms law, is a regular columnist in the California Firing Line magazine, and a frequent commentator on various news outlets. He was an Adjunct Professor at Chapman University School of Law, and is author of the book, "California Gun Laws - A Guide to State and Federal Firearm Regulations."Mr. Michel began his career with a coveted judicial clerkship with U.S. District Court Judge William J. Rea in Los Angeles. He worked as a criminal prosecutor for the L.A. County District Attorney’s Office and as an advocate with the L.A. Federal Public Defender’s office. Mr. Michel also practiced environmental & general civil litigation as an attorney at the renowned international law firm of O’Melveny & Myers, LLP. While at O’Melveny, Mr. Michel represented multinational corporations and such notable clients as Exxon Corporation in connection with the Exxon Valdez oil spill. He also served as Staff Counsel to the “Christopher Commission” investigating the LAPD under the leadership of former Secretary of State the late Warren Christopher.
