Working as a paediatric physiotherapist for Alder Hey was a privilege where I learnt vital paediatric clinic skills. In addition to being the teams First Aid Officer and being awarded the Butterfly Award for growth and taking on a wider caseload than expected, I developed sound clinical competency in assessing and treating complex neurological disorders, musculoskeletal conditions as well as assessing neurodivergent children with regard to their fine and gross motor skills. Treating children age 0-19 I learnt about child development and growth-related conditions. Having completed a Paediatric Hydrotherapy course at Alder Hey, I leveraged these skills at my time working in Merefield Special School where I devised holistic postural management and exercise programmes for the children under my care. I worked closely alongside Paediatric OT’s, some of which specialist in sensory processing disorders, from whom I leaned vast amounts from. Show less

I find this job very rewarding and I find it interesting and useful to understand medications and their uses.
