I am a licensed Filipino-American geologist that moved to the US in 2012. I have been teaching geology students since 2009 but started K-12 in various school districts in Michigan since 2015. I want to be a certified GISP because I find joy in the value of my work benefiting the end-user. I am currently studying Geographic Information Science and Python. I am excited to finally kickstart my path in the geospatial field!I am a self-taught and an advanced user of Surfer and MapInfo while I have the basics of ArcGIS. I got my certifications in using the Adobe Suite (InDesign, Illustrator, Flash, Dreamweaver, Photoshop) and HTML. I also learned Blender 3D modelling (See attached media below for samples). I created and am currently managing the website for the Association of Filipinos for the Advancement of the Geoscience, Inc. (afaginc.com). I am proficient in Wordpress for website creation and management. I use LucidPress for resumes, online newsletters and magazines.As a geologist, I enjoy fieldwork. I gained my experiences in several geologic, magnetic and gravity surveys conducted in a Volcanic Island Arc setting (Philippines). I honed my technical skills (petrography, geophysics, geochemistry, sample prep, GIS) for over 5 years. My teaching profession has taught me how to establish proper communications with people of all ages.Thus, I am eager to use my expertise in these aspects to contribute to the excellence and growth of my future employer. I am looking for a company that will nurture my development as a young scientist. I am actively seeking a Geologist or GIS position.
