As a Startmate First Believer, I'm learning the investing craft from the best investors in ANZ, and pressure-testing my thinking by helping select founders for the Startmate Small Bets Fund and Accelerator Fund.

In my role as Concept Development Manager, I worked directly with the founder to develop a retail innovation strategy, and managed a large program team to deliver against key innovation objectives. Key Achievements - Strategy & Innovation:- Enhanced customer insights capabilities, developed frameworks to inform leasing decisions, ranging decisions, marketing plans - Led Mecca's reimagining of the 'beauty store of the future' through the design, prototype, pilot and iteration of concepts live in store (25 micro-concepts piloted to date, with 60% scale-rate) - Developed a department-store concession concept that is now the most productive store within the Mecca fleet (trading out of 360sqm)- Ideated, defined, tested and validated the 'Mecca Beauty Lab' - an in-store experience that has been rolled out into 10+ flagship stores across the network - Assessed the feasibility and viability of locations for new concept stores, resulting in recommendations being built into the company's real estate strategy - Launched a new retail concept into NZ with two mega-stores in Wellington & Auckland - Won the annual 'Jo Horgan Award' for excellence, and received an cash prize that I chose to invest in an Exec Education course at Harvard Business School
Key Achievements - Concept Design & Programme Management:- Led the re-brand of 2 out of 3 of Mecca's major sub-brands, working with an external creative agency to deliver the brand identity, tone of voice and graphic language- Sourced and managed the design process with NYC-based design firm O'Neil Langan Architects, delivering ~20 concept stores through this partnership and a suite of over 60 merchandise, service and operational fixtures and design elements - Owned a large annual budget for Concept Development and ensured new concept designs met an agreed target CAPEX rate with full offshore procurement - Led a cross-functional team of 20+ to deliver a suite of highly complex projects with significant investment
