I was asked to become a National Marketing Specialist by the Vice President of Marketing. He had heard of my efforts and work ethic from others in the company and wanted me to head up a new role in a new department.I managed two projects: researching, managing and budgeting all details of company's first, large-scale national trade show marketing campaign ($700K budget). And managing the new design of the company's monthly sales flyer; creating a retails sales flyer as opposed to the 50 paged quarterly catalog.I immersed myself in all aspects of this position, and greatly enjoyed watching the two projects come together with great success.While researching the national trade shows, I worked with an outside company regarding design and function of a national trade show booth. I personally managed all details of procuring the company's booth; heavily involved in details of design, budget and functionality.I managed all aspects of 25 annual nationwide tradeshows and analyzed ROI sales figures following the trade shows. I also enjoyed building rapport with sales and event staff before the show and during follow up after the show while sharing sales contacts and follow up sales growth figures. The monthly sales flyer project took off in tandem with the national trade show project. This required exceptional time management from myself and tight coordination with other departments to keep to a strict timeline. I worked with the graphics department to create the new design and worked with product managers and sales staff nationwide to determine success and help direct sales growth. The new design created 500% sales growth for products featured.The flyer was an immediate success with stores calling in to share success stores of new customers starting accounts because of the pricing and ease of viewing the company's product lines. Our vendors also took notice, investing in feature spots within the flyer.

When beginning employment at Fastenal, I was a hired as an account specialist for Government and Supplier Diversity accounts. This involved support management of the store accounts, account reporting and reconcilation of accounts. Because these specialized accounts were so different than the standard store customer account, I found myself in a liason role providing detailed training to store personnel. One of the first projects I tackled when I started in the position was a Supplier Diversity account that had a total of over $200,000 in past due invoices. The account was put on hold but the issue of why invoices weren't paid was unclear. After detailed analysis and calling stores, I quickly found the problem began with the ordering of toliet paper in a case quantity versus a roll quantity. Invoice by invoice, line item by line item I communicated the issues with every individual store affected and the account was cleaned up and soon back in business. My hard work and efforts were quickly noticed by others and I was asked to interview for a new Procurement position within the company. I accepted the role of Procurement Agent and became responsible for developing and implementing detailed procedures for procuring over 250 kits used for new store openings (involving thousands of individual parts). I worked directly with outside vendors overseeing contracts and project time lines utilizing Peoplesoft and Oper1 purchasing models.A large part of my position involved cleaning up the inventory numbers for the new store kits. Upon taking on the position, I was informed the quanities in the system did not reflect the quantities of product at the distribution center in Indianapolis. I took it upon myself to travel to Indianapolis to manually inventory the kits and update the quanities so inventory reflected accurate numbers and future dollars were not wasted.
