I am a qualified lawyer with professional experience across many jurisdictions working in a life science intergovernmental organization EMBL (European Molecular Biology Laboratory). Within Legal Services team I provide legal advice in the field of international civil service law, labor and employment law, litigation, disciplinary process, investigations, compliance, arbitration, disputes, as well as administrative law of international organizations, institutional law, general commercial and contract law, privileges & immunities, Among others, I am responsible for handling internal appeals procedures, representing EMBL before the internal boards and external tribunals (ILOAT), disciplinary procedures, investigations, harassment cases, advising in internal committees and working groups, participating in the development and implementation of internal policies, various processes and strategies to promote an overarching culture of integrity and compliance with all labor & employment laws and regulations. I am involved in development and application of justice policies (i.e grievance, disciplinary, harassment, bullying, discrimination, code of conduct), rules and regulations, social security matters, legal aspects of employment relations and consultancy contracts. I closely interact with the management, senior stakeholders and staff association and decision-makers, providing advice on all kind of legal matters related to operational activities. I also provide legal training to staff on all labor & employment law related matters and internal justice system. I collaborate with external legal experts providing external legal advice to EMBL.I have strong problem-solving skills and a hands-on approach, balancing pragmatic solutions and risks in line with strategic objectives. I am able to simplify complex legal matters for non-experts in a scientific field and work directly with individuals and partners from diverse backgrounds at all levels as well as collaborate with other legal experts. I enjoy working in a diverse, international, stimulating and open-minded environment with colleagues from different cultures and fields. I am a qualified lawyer admitted to the bar (Poland) and I obtained a PhD in International Law and Economics with specialization in International arbitration at the Bocconi University in Italy. I speak fluently English, Italian, Spanish and Polish, while my German is intermediate.
