I was the intern for the entire Performance Services department which included sport medicine, sport psychology, high performance coaching, and the sport physiology lab. I assisted each of these departments in any way possible, including designing and creating informational brochures and booklets, running lab tests, filing, data entry, participating in department meetings, contacting outside medical help, acting as the contact point for a national rehabilitation and dental network for elite athletes, acting as the customer service for incoming calls and visitors, and helping update the current medical volunteer program.
I was part of a nine person team in charge of planning and executing seven summer conferences and workshops at BYU. These included Women’s Conference (18,000+ participants) and the International Double Reed Festival (700+ participants). This required detailed planning and extensive teamwork to create event action plans that choreographed, down to the minute, how the conference was supposed to run, as well as contacting vendors, finding speakers, scheduling venues, getting volunteers, registering participants, etc. Each of us was also assigned a smaller conference to spear head at the same time. I was in charge of running the two week, summer Theatre Workshop specifically.
My main duty was to help create the best possible team out of the variety of skill levels in the athletes. I performed these duties through writing and implementing all workouts for the men’s and women’s varsity and junior varsity swimmers, including dry land training. I took part in fundraising, equipment purchasing, and hosting quality swim meets.
I was part of a four pool system that worked together to provide the best and safest swimming atmosphere for 100+ patrons a day. I created the lifeguard and swimming lesson schedules, taught lessons and coached the swim team. I planned and oversaw monthly inservice training sessions for our staff. I also helped take care of chemical testing and pool maintenance as well as basic finances.
I started out as part of the Disney College Program where we lived in Orlando, and worked at the resort. I was part of the operations cast for the Lights Motors, Action! Stunt Show, where we worked to take care of 15,000+ guests a day at our attraction, keeping them safe and providing the best customer service possible. Once my program was over I moved to the position of Campus Representative at Brigham Young University. We worked tirelessly to create and implement an effective marketing strategy to recruit new interns for each program season. We were the top recur
