About Rebecca Ayers
I was born and raised in Florence, South Carolina and currently live in Raleigh, North Carolina. I love the city and all of the growth opportunities here! In my spare time, I like to practice self care by reading, hiking, and spending time with my loved ones. My friends and family describe me as: resilient, outgoing, friendly, and determined. Here's a few facts about me professionally:While, I have worked in various departments (retail, insurance, and healthcare), I am currently working in an inpatient and residential eating disorder treatment facility as a behavioral health technician. I have advanced in my role and currently lead as a preceptor for recently hired behavioral health technicians. Additionally, I am enrolled in a program through my workplace to receive behavioral health technician certification. How did I get to where I am now? I struggled with an eating disorder for twelve years before I began my own recovery journey. After fully recovering, I knew that my passion was to help others reach full recovery for themselves and to find a life worth living. That's why I went back to college to receive my BA in Social Sciences (Psychology) from Southern New Hampshire University.Looking forward, I desire to complete a Master of Arts in Clinical Mental Health Counseling degree. This will be my next step before licensure as a LCMHC. My professional goal is to become a Certified Eating Disorder Specialist (CEDS) in order to continue to help individuals with life-threatening eating disorders.
