CommunityHealth defines excellence in delivering comprehensive, patient-centered health care at no cost to low-income uninsured individuals and families in need of a medical home. Selected from over 900 dedicated volunteers as 2011 Health Educator of the Year; instructed over 80 Spanish-speaking, uninsured patients for over 100 hours about healthy cooking and nutrition; committed over 100 hours of additional volunteer time as Spanish Interpreter, Triage Volunteer and Women’s Health Assistant; planned and executed translation of diabetes course curriculum. Eventually hired as Health Education Coordinator, where I continued this work in a full time capacity.
