I moved to Washington, DC because I wanted the taste of "city" life and I had always believed it was important to vote. Little did I know that over the next 20 years I would build a career in politics - working for two wonderful Members of Congress from my home state of North Carolina, meeting with business and government leaders from around the globe, and getting a bird's eye view of how policy is made and compromise works. During my more than 10 years working on Capitol Hill, I developed political awareness and relationships and a sophisticated understanding of the legislative process. My 10 years working in the Government Affairs office of a biopharmaceutical company gave me unique insight into corporate and business goals and drivers. Theses experiences enable me to comprehensively navigate the intersection of politics, government, business, legislation, and regulation and lead a team with diverse responsibilities. Along the way, I have met exciting people with interesting backgrounds and opinions who have taught me a lot about what I did not already know and in some cases made my convictions stronger. I have learned to enjoy the "city" life while still appreciating my southern roots and the value of friendships. And I continue to believe in the importance of my vote.
