My experience working with diverse populations, teaching in Title I classrooms, and first hand experience as a woman of color from a poor, immigrant family brings voices to important conversations that are currently silenced. I will create a positive impact for these communities by working as an administrative leader in government and nonprofit organizations that are committed to giving people access to opportunities that will allow them to break the cycle of poverty and overcome systems of discrimination.

Co-Founder And DirectorStudent To Student Oct 2012 - PresentNew York, NyStudent to Student aims to level the playing field for under-resourced middle school students who strive to gain entry into New York City's specialized public high schools by making academic resources available to low-income students. Student to Student partners with half a dozen NYC middle schools to provide Specialized High School Admissions Test (SHSAT) tutoring to 60 rising 8th graders. The Student to Student leadership team has raised $21,000 and won the Dalai Lama Fellowship, the Teach for America Rising Leaders Fellowship, and the title of "Best Overall Venture" from the NYU Reynolds Change Maker Challenge. Specific duties include overseeing the development of the Student to Student curriculum, measuring the program’s impact, writing grants, raising funds, and training tutors. Curriculum areas include math, verbal reasoning, and academic mentoring.
