Led Knowledge Management and Learning Team for a global project operating in 35 countries, managing all knowledge management and learning, data management, GIS, ICT, communications, and training. Worked with Markets and Trade, Livelihoods, Nutrition and Agroclimatology experts to translate technical content into specialized guidance documents and training materials. Authored or contributed significant input into a series of guidance documents on core FEWS NET methodologies.

Managed the development and execution of a project-wide training strategy covering 35 countries, including protocol for trainings, content, and process for new staff orientations and tracking of staff training. Oversaw all major staff training initiatives across the project, including agroclimatology, markets and trade, scenario development, livelihoods, and nutrition trainings. Developed training materials across sectors, including guidance and training packages and e-learning iniatitives.

Managed project to write national food security profiles for FEWS NET staff. Oriented new analysts in FEWS NET methodologies and approach. Ad hoc technical assistance.

Conducted food security analysis and made projections using scenario building, FEWS NET’s core analytical approach, involving an assessment of agricultural production, market functioning and price trends, conflict, and nutrition, among other factors. Utilized a livelihoods approach, relying on household economic data and information to determine food security outcomes at the household level. Provided monthly early warning food security reports and analysis in English, Spanish and French, on countries in East Africa, Central America, and the Caribbean, and developed and presented regular public briefings to wide-ranging audiences. Conducted field visits to evaluate food security and nutrition conditions and train field staff. Provided decision support for key food security crises.

Provided analytical and operational support to mainstream disaster risk reduction and climate change adaptation programs at regional, national, and local levels in sub-Saharan Africa. Worked with the Global Facility for Disaster Reduction and Recovery (GFDRR). Developed Disaster Risk Management (DRM) Country Plans for portfolio of countries.

Managed project for USAID’s Office of Poverty Reduction aimed at supporting poverty reduction approaches in conflict and fragile states through knowledge management and communications activities. Led the Microenterprise Results Reporting (MRR) project, USAID’s official system for the collection of microenterprise budget data and institutional results. Managed database of fiscal and results data for 3,000 microenterprise institutions receiving more than $200 million in funding in total. Led data quality assessment, and data mining, analysis, and synthesis process. Communications and knowledge management specialist for the Accelerated Microenterprise Advancement Project.

Information specialist/field officer for USAID/OFDA on disasters and complex emergencies throughout the world. Disaster response field work and technical assistance, and contingency planning.

Wrote research studies for client corporations on corporate strategy, including treasury management, best practices in mergers and acquisitions, competitive intelligence systems, and risk management programs.
