Steven Hutcheson is an international development professional with more than 15 years of experience working on international projects and programs, including more than ten years managing USAID-funded environment projects. Project technical areas have included: geospatial technologies, climate change, biodiversity and forestry conservation, natural resources management, land rights, and alternative livelihoods. Steven is known as a reliable, "can-do" leader and team member who fosters camaraderie and professional integrity. Since 2014, Steven has been working in Washington, DC. At Chemonics International, Steven managed a portfolio of USAID-funded projects within the Latin American and Caribbean (LAC) region. In November 2022, Steven re-joined the SERVIR Global network via Bixal Solutions. SERVIR Global, a joint initiative of NASA, USAID, and leading geospatial organizations in Asia, Africa, and Latin America, partners with countries and organizations to address critical challenges in climate change, food and water security, water-related disasters, land use, and air quality.Previously, Steven worked at Duke University through the Organization for Tropical Studies (OTS), a world-renowned research consortium that promotes education and leadership in tropical biology and the responsible use of natural resources in the tropics. As a University Relations Officer, he coordinated international programs between offices at Duke and OTS research stations in Costa Rica (La Selva, Las Cruces, and Palo Verde) & South Africa (Skukuza/Kruger National Park). After studying at the University of Richmond, Steven graduated summa cum laude from Iona College with a degree in International Relations & International Business. Steven was also an accomplished four-year Division I student-athlete (soccer) and a recognized leader within the community, having contributed to non-profits and development projects across the NYC region. Steven is fluent in Spanish with significant experience in Latin America. He is also a dual United States/United Kingdom citizen and an Appalachian Trail thru-hiker (Class of 2009).
