New Graduate Occupational Therapist

I completed my training in the Comprehensive Global Format in November 2015. I am currently teaching Group Mat Classes at a private studio in Kelvin Grove utilizing the full BASI method.

Masters of Occupational Therapy Student Graduation December 2018

3 month student placement in Secure Mental Health Rehabilitation (SMHRU) and Acute Mental Health In-patient wards. • Utilize client files and the Consumer Integrated Mental Health Application (CIMHA) database for information gathering and documentation• Provide high level occupational therapy and professional mental health services to adults and adolescents living with a mental illness including occupational therapy assessment for the purpose of treatment planning, discharge planning or evaluation.• Plan, implement and evaluate individual and group based therapeutic programs in collaboration with consumers, carers and the multidisciplinary team to facilitate consumer goals for recovery eg. Sensory Modulation Group.• Present and discuss consumer progress towards goals for recovery at case review/ multidisciplinary team meetings.• Complete relevant documentation for consumers (including but not limited to general progress notes, recovery plan, relapse prevention plan, risk assessment, consumer outcomes).• Utilise interpersonal and communication skills to work cooperatively and effectively with consumers, colleagues, carers, other stakeholders (eg. GP, medical specialist), non-government organisations, government agencies and district wide mental health services.• Demonstrate awareness of the principles of the Recovery Model and the Model of Human Occupation framework and apply these principles to clinical practice.

6-Week Clinical Placement in Orthopaedics• Present and discuss consumer progress towards goals for discharge at multidisciplinary team meetings and morning ward rounds.• Initial interview and functional assessment; ADL and functional mobility/transfer training; environmental assessment, equipment prescription and/or modification; patient education and discharge planning• Liaising with the multidisciplinary team to provide high quality care to facilitate the functional independence, safety and quality of life of patients. • Maintain a commitment to patient and family centred care, interdisciplinary practice and evidence-based knowledge• Plan, implement and evaluate group based therapeutic program to facilitate goals for recovery smoother discharge goals ie: Total Hip Replacement / Total Knee Replacement Pre-Op Group• Utilize client files and the Consumer Integrated Mental Health Application (CIMHA) database for information gathering and documentation• Demonstrate awareness of the principles of the Recovery Model and the Model of Human Occupation framework and apply these principles to clinical practice.• Demonstrate flexibility and good time management, particularly when required to provide cover due to increased workload across the service.• Complete documentation in a succinct, and logical manner (including but not limited to general progress notes, discharge summaries and THR/TKR Pathways charts) • Participation in research projects regarding total hip replacement hip precaution necessities and outcomes

Functional ADL training for children including dressing and eating, as well as interpersonal skills and emotional regulation.

- Assists assigned clients with established rehabilitative activities as outlined by both occupational therapists and physiotherapists. - Provide training, which helps clients to develop, maintain or restore physical, psychosocial, cognitive and/or communication skills. - Demonstrates to clients the use of prescribed treatments / adaptive devices such as braces, wheelchairs and walkers and modified eating utensils and personal car items as directed. - Reports observations of clients’ behavior and progress to the attending therapists

- Office Manager and Human Resource Manager - Organize staff schedules and orientation - Client Relations – inquiries, bookings, follow-up calls- Working with manual books and computerized programs - Structuring client files; coordinate with veterinary clinics to check medications and vaccination records. - Transaction records (Cash, Visa, Mastercard, Cheques) - Oversee the care of both large and small dogs and cats at low and high season.

- Answering the phone - Booking Appointments- Client/Case Manager Liason for RCMP, Blue Cross, WCB and ICBC- Cash Visa/Mastercard/Interact Handling - Filing and Computer software uploading - Setup/Cleanup rehabilitation rooms (assist with hot packs, therapy tools, wax treatments)
