My beloved grandmother used to say of me, "Anne, you could have a king on your right side and a pauper on the left, and no one would know the difference." I suppose that as a kid, I shrugged these words off - didn't think much about them. Now, with an adult's introspection, those words come back to me as I realize they have become my guiding principle. I enjoy meeting people where they are in life, and finding out what makes them tick. I go into my personal and professional interactions without assumptions.
