Responsible to the Director of UG Studies in the Business School for advising and placing 300 undergraduates from 10 business degrees into one year work placements. This included advising the students on CV construction, application forms, interview practice as well as practical advice on careers. Worked with the Director of the (then) newly established Management Teacher Development Unit to schedule core and specialist workshops, organising conferences and marketing of the Unit’s programmes both within the UK and overseas.

Responsible for the administration of conferences on education, enterprise and employment issues run in designated inner city schools and for the unemployed. Main achievements in the role included chairing and co-ordinating a two-day NACRO employment conference and increasing the number of companies involved within the Preston area.

Responsible for the recruitment and selection of staff, staff training and maintaining personnel records. Also for managing the Cash Office and Stockroom operations and for buying for the News department. Additionally preparing for audits and accepting managerial responsibility during the manager’s absence. Prior to my last branch appointment I worked as part of various teams preparing and opening new shops in Yorkshire and the North West. Included time spent at Head Office in Swindon with the Branch Manager ordering and buying an entire shop’s stock in readiness for the Chorley appointment.
