- Implement care in a thorough, skillful, and consistent manner by performing patient assessments, administering medication in accordance to physician orders, and checking care plans to ensure proper medical treatment/management. Establish priorities and patient care based on essential patient needs and available unit resources such as time, equipment, and supplies.- Perform assessment and data collection in an ongoing systematic manner, focusing on physiologic, psychosocial, cultural, spiritual and cognitive status; in addition to nutrition, pain, patient and family education, family involvement and patient advocacy.- Determine nursing diagnosis by obtaining accurate and relevant assessment data, interpreting the data as normal vs abnormal, and monitoring and evaluating data as needed based on stability.- Establish effective working relationships and communication with members of the healthcare team, patients, and families while demonstrating an awareness of patient/family rights, age-specific needs, and cultural/ethical beliefs by maintaining a climate conducive to healing through being present, managing discomforts and providing emotional support and information.- Demonstrate proficiency in the use of computers and electronic medical records (EPIC, PointClickCare, and Cerner), through documentation, tracking and conveying of information by maintaining and reviewing patient records, analyzing and assessing outcomes, and securing healthcare information for confidentiality.
