Why did Vox Telecoms to create a Vox Weather platform you may ask?After my retrenchment it felt like my world came crashing down. Until 3 months ago the CEO of @voxtelecom, Jaqcues Du Toit contacted me on LinkedIn about the opportunity to BRING BACK THE WEATHER. Meteorology, climate change and telecommunications have rarely been put together in one context. However, lately, given the climate emergency that the whole world is facing, telecoms also need to start talking and create awareness on the effects of climate change.Vox Telecoms has an agile approach. Never standing still and adapting, adjusting according to the market and that’s exactly what us scientists need to do to adapt to the ever-changing climate and weather patterns.I am thankful to be able to partner with such a well-known company with the same values and goals I set for myself. The functions and responsibilities of a broadcasting Meteorologist includes:● Analyse meteorological data to determine weather forecasts for television anddigital platforms for eTV/eNCA and media partners, with an emphasis on accuracyand integrity of data● Create weather and science related graphics● Graphics production using software by Weather Central (Fusion) and IBM (Max)● Present live and pre-recorded weather reports, and perform interviews for eTV/eNCAtelevision and digital, and its media partners● Compile and edit special weather or science related reports and stories● Contribute to and compile/edit special weather or science related reports● Interface with the technology at your disposal and assist in maximizing itspotential● Cover breaking weather events live and in social media● Perform interviews● Write blogs and record video blogs for online● Educate through public interaction and/or events
