Assists in the development of effective safety performance standards for rail and bus transportation and aid in the development of curriculum for safety training. Measure potential and actual results of system failures and develop intervention strategies and corrective action plans to resolve identified unsafe acts and conditions observed in the workplace. Assists in the development of policies/procedures in support of the Authority's System Safety Program Plan. Participate in the emergency response on-call rotation for the branch of Operational Safety, responds to Authority emergencies, and serves as the official safety representative on the accident scene.

Conduct classroom and on-the-job instructions for all rail operators, rail supervisors, contractors, and first responders to enhance the knowledge and improve the skills and abilities necessary for safe and efficient system operation.Provide for the development and/or acquisition of training programs and materials for classrooms and on-the-job training. Recommends improvements to the existing programs.Monitor and evaluate the progress of employees in training. Identifies performance deficiencies and recommends future training. Complete, submit and maintain accurate up-to-date training records, safety records, required reports, and schedules.
