I have a PhD in Biology (2002) and I am experienced in research policy, project management and team management. I studied Biology (behavioural & neurosciences) at the University of Groningen and did my PhD at the Swammerdam Institute for Life Sciences, University of Amsterdam. From 2002-2008 I was programme officer at ZonMw (the Dutch Organisation for Health Research and Development) and project leader of the nutritional research programming study ‘What shall we eat?’ for the Ministry of Agriculture, Nature and Food Quality, and the Ministry of Health, Welfare and Sport. In 2008 I became certified project manager. From November 2008 until December 2013 I was managing director of the public-private Netherlands Consortium for Healthy Ageing. From April-September 2011 I was also manager communications a.i. for the Netherlands Genomics Initiative (NGI) and realized, in close collaboration with 5 research consortia and I Care Productions, the popular scientific TV programme 'Lang Zullen We Leven' broadcasted on RTL4 in 6 episodes. In December 2013, I went to the Netherlands Organisation for Scientific Research (NWO) as a coordinating senior policy advisor for the Board of NWO and coordinator strategic business information/quality assurance. Since April 2017 I'm working in the Science domain of NWO, previously as a sr. policy advisor and project leader of the very first NWOLife conference in 2019'. In 2019 I successfully completed the leadership programme Stress-free Leadership (Niels van Steenbergen Consultancy) and in 2021 the course High Performance Leadership (De Baak). In 2020 I became Team Lead in the team Earth Sciences, Life Sciences and Astronomy in the NWO Science Domain.Specialities: science, research policy, project management, organisation of events, communication, team management.
