As part of Human Resources, The Workforce Development Team is responsible for designing, developing, marketing and implementing organizational programs to address Fairview's workforce/talent needs. My specific focus areas have included Medical Assistants, Information Technology, Respiratory Therapy, Cardiovascular Technician and Echocardiographer roles, among others. I managed a $900,000+ grant for our Apprenticeship programs. And I continue to lead recruitment for our MA Apprentice program and our IT Internship programs. Part of this work includes securing grant funding for our winter program with our government and education partners. I have also managed multiple rounds of Dual Training Funding awarded by the State of Minnesota that allowed Fairview to provide additional training and skills to current IT employees. The Workforce Development Team also participates in many of the more than 200 career fairs and recruiting events Fairview attends/hosts per year.

I led the constituent services department with more than 1,000 requests per year and co-managed 36 legislative staff members for 77 members of the Minnesota House of Representatives. This included recruiting, on-boarding and training legislative staff, conducting constituent case work, and drafting responses to inquiries. I also provided backup in the height of legislative session working directly with Representatives on fielding calls, committee work, and managing relationships with constituents, key community stakeholders, and lobbyists.

Vice President, Federal Relations and Workforce Development (2010 - 2015)Director, Federal Relations (2005 - 2010)Director, Health Policy (2003 - 2005)I led the federal advocacy strategy for the association. This included cultivating and maintaining relationships with the Minnesota Congressional Delegation and advocating for health care policy that enhanced the ability of Minnesota hospitals and health systems to meet their goals. I led the fundraising activities for the Minnesota Hospital PAC and achieved a 53% increase from 2006 to 2010. I took on additional project management as needed, including brokering a key agreement between the Minnesota Pollution Control Agency and MHA regarding implementation of hazardous waste regulations that avoided the legislative process and significant financial penalties. I led MHA's standing committees on workforce development and small, rural hospital issues. And, I oversaw operations of a statewide workforce planning tool that included providing strategic direction on analysis of the data. Throughout my years at MHA I also represented the association on numerous committees and task forces with community stakeholders.

And, I researched, tracked, and advised Representative Young on health care, seniors, Social Security, education, labor, judiciary, welfare, arts and humanities, telecommunication and budget issues. I served as a liaison between the Congressman, constituents and various organizations. I produced a comprehensive briefing book for the Congressman for each district work period. I also traveled throughout Alaska representing the Congressman.
